Welcome to my blog everyone!

I’m so excited to share about everything world race with you on here 🙂 I wanted to write a little about myself for those of you who don’t know me and share a little bit about how I grew closer to God.

Some basic “About me” info:

I’m currently 18 and just graduated high school. I’ve grown up in Hudson Wisconsin, located about 20 minutes from the Twin Cities, living with my wonderful parents and my sister Erin. Like so many others involved in the world race, I love traveling to new places and anything outdoorsy. I’ve always said three of my favorite things are reading, ice cream and dogs. My biggest passions have grown to be getting to connect with people, and unsurprisingly, Jesus.

A very condensed testimony:

I’ve grown up going to church. I was taught my bible stories, told I was loved by God, and given examples of Christ followers in my parents and others around me. This was such a blessing, but for my own part, I sad back as an observer. I saw God as a distant authority figure and didn’t know how to apply a relationship with him of my own into my day to day. Before my sophomore year of high school I started recognizing a pattern of people, messages, or moments calling me to open up my heart to the Lord and I know God was working through these things to pursue a relationship with me. My best friend began bringing me to her youth group and it was there that I began to experience Gods love and comprehend how much more he could be to me if I would stop holding him at arms length. I opened my heart to the relationship God wanted to have with me. I was filled with the Holy Spirit and began to get more and more excited about the Lord as I continued to encounter his love. The summer before my Junior year I chose to be baptized. It was with that baptism, in clam lake surrounded by my church community and held and prayed over by two women who had become two of my biggest mentors, that I opened my heart to what God willed for my life. Now I am practicing living out that will. I have failed countless times but throughout everything I work to remember God’s grace.

The people in my life have been some of my biggest blessings. My best friends are my biggest inspirations, my family members are my biggest supporters and my work and church communities are my biggest joys. It was through these people that I first recognized God’s love. Few things are more fulfilling than connecting with people. I know the world race will offer so many new friendships and experiences that will help me grow and I couldn’t be more excited.
